Seeking Land to Establish a Regenerative/Organic Mixed Farm in Shropshire or Further Afield

Olly grew up in a farming family on the Powys–Shropshire border. After moving away to pursue employment opportunities, he is now looking to return to the land, using his skills, experience and passion to establish his own farming enterprise.

Olly is seeking a land opportunity in Shropshire or the West Midlands. Together with his partner, he plans to collaborate with another couple to establish a new mixed farming business. Drawing on their combined expertise in livestock and horticulture, they are keen to explore approaches such as agroforestry alongside other regenerative farming systems. Their ambition is to build a resilient, organic enterprise that reflects their values. As a group, they are well informed about current developments in organic farming and have strong networks within the organic growing sector, including through the organic growers gathering.

Olly has hands-on experience across a range of farming systems. Coming from a family involved in beef and sheep farming, he also worked on a poultry farm from a young age. Although he spent the past 14 years building a career in advertising, he now works as a butcher in London, giving him valuable skills in meat preparation and value-added products. His future business partner has recently completed a 12-month horticultural course and currently grows produce in the Shrewsbury area. Together, they have established contacts across Shropshire that will support the development of the business.

To create a financially resilient enterprise, they plan to focus on direct-to-consumer sales, making use of Olly’s marketing background. The group also intends to develop value-added products by drawing on butchery, brewing and fermentation skills, and they are interested in exploring opportunities in agrotourism to diversify the business.

Ultimately, Olly is looking for an opportunity that will enable him and his family to build a long-term livelihood from the land. His goal is to create a resilient farming business that can provide the freedom to work creatively and steward the land for years to come.
