Horticulturalist seeking land for a vegetable growing market garden or CSA
Lauren is an experienced horticulturist looking for land to establish and grow a viable market gardening enterprise. She aims to develop a land-based project producing nutrient-dense vegetables and herbs within an agroforestry system, rooted in organic and agroecological principles.
She currently runs a small market garden near Macclesfield, supplying some local outlets, but is limited as an enterprise by its size. With the right land, Lauren is ready to scale up into a commercially viable market garden and is interested in exploring the potential for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme, particularly if it were in collaboration with another landseeker. She and her partner are open to relocating for the right long-term opportunity.
Lauren has undergone a range of training and will be bringing both practical and business skills to the project. She completed a year-long market gardening course at Platt Fields Market Garden in Manchester and has recently taken part in the New Organic Entrepreneurs Training Scheme, which focused on business skills and financial planning. Lauren also completed a CSA development course through the CSA Network.
Alongside her growing experience, Lauren is a qualified teacher and is keen to integrate education into the project. Lauren has experience working with all ages as well as children with SEND and complex behavioural issues. She is particularly interested in creating opportunities for people engage with food growing through a pick-your-own offering, training, or community involvement through a CSA.
Ideally, Lauren is seeking 2 acres of land with access to water, suitable for a productive market garden, with existing covered space or potential to develop basic infrastructure for crop storage and processing. Proximity to an urban area would be an advantage, supporting market opportunities and the potential for the educational and community elements.
Lauren is keen to work with a landowner who shares an interest in agroecological farming, organic principles, and is open to innovative ideas on the land. She is open to exploring mixed farming systems and, in the longer term, her partner’s experience with livestock could complement the project if appropriate.
This is an opportunity for a landowner looking for a committed grower and open to exploring a community-focused project in the long term, ideally based within 3 hours of Macclesfield, Cheshire.

This is a chance to talk through your ideas in more detail, gather the information we need, and answer any questions you have about the landmatching process.
Step 2
