Land wanted near Hertfordshire for Vermicompost start-up
Didi is looking for a 1-acre parcel of land, ideally with a hard standing area within 1 hour of Hertfordshire for her growing business Terravore.
Founded in 2025, Terravore is an early-stage environmental business focused on food waste recycling, vermicomposting, and soil regeneration. Terravore currently produces and sells composting worms and vermicompost, while developing additional services including food waste collection, on-farm composting systems, workshops, and consultancy.
Terravore collects and processes food waste that would otherwise be discarded, turning it into nutrient-rich vermicompost using composting worms with the aim to help businesses, farms, and communities close the food waste loop while improving soil health and reducing waste-related emissions.
Although still in the early stages of growth, the business is already operating and generating traction with investment in processing infrastructure, worm stock, collection equipment, branding, and product development.
Terravore are also working with farms and growers to test how vermicompost can improve soil health and crop performance. The long-term vision is to build a network of local nutrient-recycling hubs that divert food waste from landfill, support regenerative agriculture, and strengthen local circular economies.
Didi’s experience combines professional project management, environmental education, academic research around around sustainability, waste management, environmental policy, greenhouse gas emissions, soil health, and circular economy approaches as well as hands-on vermicomposting practice including raising and managing worm populations, producing vermicompost, developing products, engaging with customers and building partnerships with farms, restaurants, market gardens, and community organisations.
Didi is looking for a secure, accessible site with sufficient space for food waste processing, windrow composting, vermicomposting, and storage. Access to water is important and a covered area such as a shed / barn, would be needed to protect worms, feedstocks, and equipment from extreme weather.Good drainage and vehicle access are also important. Beyond these requirements, Terravore is flexible and does not require high-quality agricultural land. The main priority is a practical site that will allow the recycling of food waste, production of vermicompost, and demonstration of soil regeneration techniques.
Terravore are registered waste carriers with the Environment Agency.
