Land Based Education Provider Seeking Market Garden Site, East Devon / West Dorset
This is an unusual opportunity to host an education provider for home schooling and alternative programme provision. They are legally registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC), have waiting lists for their sessions at their previous site and their land based education comes with extremely positive feedback from the community. Unfortunately they have had to leave their current site through no fault of their own and are looking for one to two acres of open land to teach permaculture and run growing projects. They would ideally like to have access to some woodland and would need some kind of undercover space for shelter although they are mostly happy out and about in all weathers! There must be a mains water supply to meet sanitation requirements for working with children, if there isn’t a compost loo or other toilet facilities they would need to be able to install one. They also need to accommodate up to ten cars parked for each session.
This land based education provider has been running for almost 2 years and benefits from a Project Design Director who is a qualified permaculture landscape designer with 25 years experience in permaculture design. They grow willow varieties for fuel, for soil stabilisation, weaving and windbreak. They also do forest garden design and implementation and woodland rotational coppice. Their Managing Director is a qualified Teacher who has been training and working in mainstream and outdoor education for over 5 years. Most of the produce from the gardens goes to providing lunch and snacks for the children but any surplus goes to foodbanks and back into the community.
The opportunity to host this project would suit a landowner who would like to regenerate areas of their land, margins, boggy areas, woodland via coppicing and allow light in to the floor of a forested area for greater biodiversity..

The Matching Process
How It Works
We make it simple to connect - whether you’re offering land or looking for it.
Use the arrows below to move through the stages and see how it works.
Step 1
Getting to Know You
Through our registration process, you’ll tell us what you’re looking for in a landmatch, share a bit about yourself, and learn more about how the programme works. Our FAQs page is a great place to find answers to many of the questions you might have along the way.Once you’ve registered, your regional coordinator will get in touch to arrange a call. This is a chance to talk through your ideas in more detail, gather the information we need, and answer any questions you have about the landmatching process.
Step 2
Support Package
Whether you’re a landseeker or a landowner, we’ll provide the tools, resources, and peer support in order to prepare you for a match and plan your next steps. Our resource library includes expert guides written by land agents and consultants, along with links to useful information and supportive organisations.Using the information we’ve gathered, we’ll work with you to create a tailored listing for our noticeboard. Landmatch England will then promote your listing through our networks and social media channels, giving you the best chance of finding the right match.
Step 3
Finding your Match
Your regional coordinator will be working behind the scenes to find the best possible match for your requirements. When they identify a potential match, they’ll help you exchange more details to see if there’s genuine potential.Next comes the introduction — this might start with a call and, if it feels right, move on to a site visit. Your regional coordinator will guide and support you through these first meetings, making sure both sides get the most out of the experience.
