Meet Josh and Annabel, they are looking for 1-2 acres with the opportunity to expand to field scale after establishing their initial veg and cut flower business. Josh has a range of experience growing vegetables having spent time volunteering, working on a market garden in the North East and more recently working at Flourish Produce in Cambridgeshire. At Flourish he learned how to grow at field scale and in polytunnels and was involved in the whole process from propagation to harvest. He has experience of producing a wide variety of vegetables to a high standard for London restaurants, an onsite farm shop and a produce box scheme.
He has tractor experience with various implements, a knowledge of building soil fertility through compost, cover cropping and experience of building polytunnels and other farm infrastructure. Josh is also completing a market garden business course in August of this year. While Annabel is a new entrant to farming, she is keen to trial a cut flower enterprise alongside the market garden produce.
While the initial site should be 1-2 acres to establish the market garden it is important that there is space to expand into field scale production. The pair have savings for some infrastructure but it would be a huge benefit to have access to water, a potting/packing shed and a polytunnel already on site with access to power a bonus. Josh is interested in supplying wholesalers, selling direct to restaurants and doing some veg boxes locally as well. He will be working full time on the plot with help from Annabel and they would need to live on site or relatively close in order to manage production closely.
This opportunity would suit a land owner who is keen to support a productive market garden and wholesale veg business come to fruition on their land.

How It Works

Our FAQs page is a great place to find answers to many of the questions you might have along the way.Once you’ve registered, your regional coordinator will get in touch to arrange a call. This is a chance to talk through your ideas in more detail, gather the information we need, and answer any questions you have about the landmatching process.
Step 2
Support Package
Whether you’re a landseeker or a landowner, we’ll provide the tools, resources, and peer support in order to prepare you for a match and plan your next steps. Our resource library includes expert guides written by land agents and consultants, along with links to useful information and supportive organisations.Using the information we’ve gathered, we’ll work with you to create a tailored listing for our noticeboard. Landmatch England will then promote your listing through our networks and social media channels, giving you the best chance of finding the right match.
Step 3
Finding your Match
Your regional coordinator will be working behind the scenes to find the best possible match for your requirements. When they identify a potential match, they’ll help you exchange more details to see if there’s genuine potential.Next comes the introduction — this might start with a call and, if it feels right, move on to a site visit. Your regional coordinator will guide and support you through these first meetings, making sure both sides get the most out of the experience.
