Experienced Grower & Chef Seeking Land for Market Garden and Community Kitchen, near Manchester
Ngwafu Tansie has been running a successful catering and education business for the past 6 years, using seasonal British-grown produce to bring delicious West African Food to the community. The business currently uses food from a small allotment, but Ngwafu has aspirations to find a larger piece of land which can sit alongside a developed growing space, as well as using the land to host a kitchen, and bring in the community to educate about growing, harvesting and cooking nutritious food, in one place.
Ngwafu is a professional chef, and has been growing her own food for around 3 years. She has a successful business behind her and is well-networked in Manchester. Ngwafu has a passion for sharing her skills and passions through workshops with both adults and children, using her networks to provide steady opportunity streams for the business. She is already running workshops across venues in Manchester and also runs supper clubs alongside her thriving catering business.
Ngwafu aims to expand her business so that she can centre affordable, locally-grown food, and provide access to that food for local communities in and around Manchester. Ngwafu wants to showcase new and exciting flavours, and is interested in exploring growing West African vegetables, which are currently energy-intensive to import. Ngwafu wants to emphasise reducing food waste, and already successfully cycles food waste directly from the catering business into compost to reinvigorate the soil.
Ngwafu wishes to introduce new, exciting vegetables to an existing growing space. She is ideally looking for a space commutable from Droylsden in Manchester, with enough transport links to allow local communities to visit the plot, and get involved with growing and workshops. It would be a huge bonus to have a covered space or the possibility of housing a kitchen on-site, and Ngwafu already has experience working out of semi-permanent structures. She is open to working with a landowner or another grower to collaborate and make the best use of a plot, offering her skills to bring the plot to life and bring more communities in Manchester into growing spaces.
This is an ideal opportunity for a landowner who wants to work with an ambitious business owner, passionate about catering for her community. Ngwafu has recently undergone a training programme about taking on land, and she has a practical business plan ready to take the next steps with the land to do so.

The Matching Process
How It Works
We make it simple to connect - whether you’re offering land or looking for it.
Use the arrows below to move through the stages and see how it works.
Step 1
Getting to Know You
Through our registration process, you’ll tell us what you’re looking for in a landmatch, share a bit about yourself, and learn more about how the programme works. Our FAQs page is a great place to find answers to many of the questions you might have along the way.Once you’ve registered, your regional coordinator will get in touch to arrange a call. This is a chance to talk through your ideas in more detail, gather the information we need, and answer any questions you have about the landmatching process.
Step 2
Support Package
Whether you’re a landseeker or a landowner, we’ll provide the tools, resources, and peer support in order to prepare you for a match and plan your next steps. Our resource library includes expert guides written by land agents and consultants, along with links to useful information and supportive organisations.Using the information we’ve gathered, we’ll work with you to create a tailored listing for our noticeboard. Landmatch England will then promote your listing through our networks and social media channels, giving you the best chance of finding the right match.
Step 3
Finding your Match
Your regional coordinator will be working behind the scenes to find the best possible match for your requirements. When they identify a potential match, they’ll help you exchange more details to see if there’s genuine potential.Next comes the introduction — this might start with a call and, if it feels right, move on to a site visit. Your regional coordinator will guide and support you through these first meetings, making sure both sides get the most out of the experience.
