Experienced All-Rounders Looking For 12ac Mixed Farmland, Totnes, Devon

Meet Vicky and her wife, Marge. They have been managing pigs on a farm near Totnes for two years and are looking for at least 10 acres to run a mixed enterprise that will make the most of their varied experience. They would work around existing farm activities but are open to growing veg, have poultry broilers or layers and possibly have cattle in the future. They would like to keep the pigs to build on their established local market, ideally there would be arable nearby as they grow their feed. They could make it work on any land but the flatter the better and would need a water supply and housing for animals would be an added bonus. Both women have extensive experience working on farms over the last ten years in mixed organic systems, market gardens and field scale veg, poultry and livestock. They want to take advantage of retail and wholesale markets and have a business plan ready to share.

Because they have already established a strong business in the Totnes area they are ideally looking for land no more than half an hour’s drive away. Although, if there was an opportunity to live on the land this would allow them to extend this distance somewhat. They understand that relationships are important and initially want to keep the term to 2-5 years with a view to staying on if the working relationship is good.

This opportunity would suit a landowner who is looking for capable landseekers to diversify the enterprises on their farm.
