Shared business opportunity for a market gardener in Marlow
Shared business opportunity for a market gardener in Marlow
Gone Wild Veg is a new Community Interest Company based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, offering land for a shared business opportunity. The team are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced grower to co-create a productive and diverse community market garden using no-dig and organic principles for growing veg, flowers, herbs and wildflower seeds.
The site sits across 4-acres of former horse grazing land within easy walking and cycling distance of Marlow town centre. Around 1.5 acres is intended for food growing, with the remainder being developed for managed rewilding and nature restoration.
The vision is for the site to bring together organic local food production, biodiversity, community and wellbeing. As well as the market garden, the wider site will include managed grassland, hedgelaying, a new heritage orchard, wildflower meadows and seed beds, ponds, and habitats for wild bees.
It is set within the Chilterns National landscape, and we hope it will become a place of inspiration, beauty and education where people can volunteer, learn, and connect with nature and sustainable food growing. In time, the team hopes it will be a demonstration of how food production and habitat restoration can work together.
Gone Wild Veg CIC are particularly interested in hearing from someone who has their own experience and ideas about running a market garden and who would be enthusiastic about building something collaboratively as a shared business opportunity. There is scope for the grower to potentially become a director of the CIC in the future.
The land is on a secure long-term lease from a supportive local charity and local environmental groups are starting to support the project. Funding has recently been secured to repair boundary fencing and establish a heritage fruit orchard this autumn.
This is an exciting early stage project, offering the opportunity to be involved in planning and creating the market garden from the ground up ahead of the 2027 season.
