Egg production within an agroforestry scheme - Oxfordshire
Eddie and his family farm 200ha of permanent pasture in Thame, Oxfordshire. This multi-generation farming business is run on regenerative farming principles whereby the family are restoring the natural capital of the land by planting trees and new hedges; restoring and creating new ponds and wildflower meadows, and creating scrub for habitat.
After a period of significant fruit and nut tree planting across the farm, Eddie is now looking to offer land for an egg laying / poultry enterprise based on a mobile housing system where coops can move up and down the agroforestry alleys in a fenced area within a 20 acre field.
There is a covered space on the farm for egg packing and an on-site farm shop, cafe and a regular market can offer immediate sales outlets for eggs.
Accommodation cannot currently be offered, but there is space for a caravan or mobile home to be sited to enable the effective working of a poultry enterprise. A mains water supply is also in place.
The farm will soon be in conversion to organic so the egg enterprise will need to adhere to organic certification in the future. The set up will also need to be designed to adhere to any existing or future regulation around Avian-flu outbreaks.
A contribution of set up costs for infrastructure can be discussed and there is potential for wider employment on the farm for a suitable candidate.
The farm is also home to a number of other small enterprises including a forest school, sauna and yoga businesses as well as an outdoor theatre venue.

The Matching Process
How It Works
We make it simple to connect - whether you’re offering land or looking for it.

Our FAQs page is a great place to find answers to many of the questions you might have along the way.Once you’ve registered, your regional coordinator will get in touch to arrange a call. This is a chance to talk through your ideas in more detail, gather the information we need, and answer any questions you have about the landmatching process.
Step 2
Support Package
Whether you’re a landseeker or a landowner, we’ll provide the tools, resources, and peer support in order to prepare you for a match and plan your next steps. Our resource library includes expert guides written by land agents and consultants, along with links to useful information and supportive organisations.Using the information we’ve gathered, we’ll work with you to create a tailored listing for our noticeboard. Landmatch England will then promote your listing through our networks and social media channels, giving you the best chance of finding the right match.
Step 3
Finding your Match
Your regional coordinator will be working behind the scenes to find the best possible match for your requirements. When they identify a potential match, they’ll help you exchange more details to see if there’s genuine potential.Next comes the introduction — this might start with a call and, if it feels right, move on to a site visit. Your regional coordinator will guide and support you through these first meetings, making sure both sides get the most out of the experience.
