Nursery Business, Market Garden or Field Scale Veg, Tansley, Derbyshire

Nursery Business, Market Garden or Field Scale Veg, Tansley, Derbyshire

Juli owns 25 acres of land near Matlock, Derbyshire, and is developing the site with the aim of creating a productive space that attracts more people to the land. As part of this vision, she is looking for a grower ready to establish their enterprise on the plot.

The site was previously home to a nursery and still benefits from two commercial polytunnels, both in good condition. One currently houses a thriving tomato stock, while the other is underutilised and currently provides storage space for a tractor and equipment. These provide an excellent opportunity for a land-based business to get started with this infrastructure already in place.

There are also two fields currently used for field-scale vegetable production, which will become available when the current tenant leaves. In addition, a small horse livery on site provides a valuable source of muck for a future grower.

Alongside the growing spaces, there is a large barn which could potentially provide nursery space, as well as fenced plant-growing areas. The site has mains water and rainwater reclamation, providing additional water resources for growing. There is parking for approximately 15 cars, and the site is suitable for deliveries, making it practical for a growing nursery or market garden enterprise.

Alongside the growing spaces, Juli lets out a farmhouse and a cottage as holiday accommodation, and is continuing to develop the site as a whole.

The site is situated within walking distance of Tansley, which hosts a weekly market – a convenient outlet for reaching local customers.

Juli is keen to support someone in building their own successful enterprise while they become part of the site’s wider development. She hopes this partnership will make better use of the land, create new opportunities for both parties, and help establish a vibrant, welcoming place for food growing and the local community.
