Opportunity for a Market Garden or Mixed Farm Enterprise, Near Gloucester

The two sisters who own this 900-acre dairy farm are entering an exciting phase as they transform their family farm into a regenerative, enterprise-stacked mixed operation. Earlier this year, the dairy and beef enterprises were relaunched with a new team fully committed to regenerative and organic principles.

Later in the year, work will begin on developing a milk processing facility and an on-farm butchery, with the aim of supplying meat boxes and dairy products directly to the local community. The farm is ideally located between three expanding urban areas, offering strong potential for local sales.

In January, Norton Growing Space C.I.C. was established and now holds a 10-year rolling lease on an accessible 3-acre field half a mile from the main farmyard. The vision is to create a community growing space with allotments and volunteer opportunities for people interested in producing their own food. The sisters see this site becoming a central hub for the farm, with a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme operating alongside the allotments. They are currently seeking someone to establish and run either CSA market garden or similar enterprise. In addition, the sisters are keen to support other complementary enterprises on the farm, such as pasture-based poultry or agroforestry initiatives, either alongside or independent of the CSA.

The C.I.C. is supported by an enthusiastic steering group, with plans to secure funding for infrastructure including shelters, storage, a communal polytunnel, compost toilet, and secure perimeter fencing. Water is currently supplied via the farm’s borehole, with long-term plans to implement a sustainable rainwater harvesting system using a nearby disused slurry lagoon. Accommodation within the nearby village, owned by the farm, may also be available.

This opportunity would suit someone passionate about producing high-quality food for the local community, with a strong interest in community engagement and collaboration. The successful candidate will be well placed to benefit from the many synergies and partnerships developing across the farm.
