Ed and his wife run a 730 acre family farm in East Somerset, historically a dairy farm, it is now managed livestock free under regenerative and rewilding principles with multiple diversified enterprises. The main land activity consists of arable and herbal ley cropping sold as forage and large woodland creation projects, complimented by numerous pond creation and wildflower meadow projects. Farm buildings now largely support let workspaces with a whole range of activities, from guitar making to campervan conversions, wool crafts, artworks, among more traditional farm work such as wheat and barley and woodland creation. A campsite and off grid gathering space venue hosts group bookings of ecotherapy courses, and there are two holiday let properties. Ed leans towards perennial growing and has started a food forest, the upper canopy of which is complete with lower, shrub and ground plantings in progress. He is offering this one acre forest garden plot along with a couple more acres to a landseeker with some experience and who is looking to develop their own enterprise. While there is the option of developing the food forest further there is also the possibility of starting from scratch elsewhere on the farm. Once established there would be flexibility should the landseeker want to expand their operation.
Ed is offering the land to rent or in return for an exchange or barter and is particularly interested in someone helping out around the farm or campsite/ecotherapy venue in exchange for the land. There is enough work for additional employment which could possibly come with accommodation although a live in vehicle is allowable otherwise. The plot comes with access to water, electricity, toilets, shower and communal kitchen and there is a warm and welcoming community of people on site. There is a range of machinery and equipment that could be made available by agreement and buildings available depending on need, he would rather not have a polytunnel on the land unless absolutely necessary. Ed and his wife have a whole host of land skills and experience in business and mentoring and would be glad to support a landseeker in this way.
This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic landseeker looking for a supportive environment to set up a new perennial food or plant business.

The Matching Process
How It Works
We make it simple to connect - whether you’re offering land or looking for it.
Use the arrows below to move through the stages and see how it works.
Step 1
Getting to Know You
Through our registration process, you’ll tell us what you’re looking for in a landmatch, share a bit about yourself, and learn more about how the programme works. Our FAQs page is a great place to find answers to many of the questions you might have along the way.Once you’ve registered, your regional coordinator will get in touch to arrange a call. This is a chance to talk through your ideas in more detail, gather the information we need, and answer any questions you have about the landmatching process.
Step 2
Support Package
Whether you’re a landseeker or a landowner, we’ll provide the tools, resources, and peer support in order to prepare you for a match and plan your next steps. Our resource library includes expert guides written by land agents and consultants, along with links to useful information and supportive organisations.Using the information we’ve gathered, we’ll work with you to create a tailored listing for our noticeboard. Landmatch England will then promote your listing through our networks and social media channels, giving you the best chance of finding the right match.
Step 3
Finding your Match
Your regional coordinator will be working behind the scenes to find the best possible match for your requirements. When they identify a potential match, they’ll help you exchange more details to see if there’s genuine potential.Next comes the introduction — this might start with a call and, if it feels right, move on to a site visit. Your regional coordinator will guide and support you through these first meetings, making sure both sides get the most out of the experience.
