An interesting opportunity to take on 2-3 acres of flat open land on improved clay soil and some woodland with potential to expand over time. You would be working alongside an ornamental plant nursery which is currently being established on site and as things develop there is potential for other growers to join and establish a collective under an already established Community Interest Company (CIC). The hope is that the enterprises would be able to interact and support one another sharing resources such as workshop space for courses as well as utilities, tools and machinery. One of the most exciting aspects of this opportunity is the potential for the enterprises on the land to join the overarching CIC as co-directors once the businesses have been established and proved themselves. in the long term there may be the opportunity to apply to the planning authority for temporary accommodation for growers should a CSA or similar project take off and be viable.
The current Directors of the CIC also built the adjoining affordable, low carbon housing development and would like to see enterprises on the adjacent land that engage with the community there. The enterprise could be a community supported agriculture (CSA) scheme or something else, they are open to ideas as long as the approach follows organic principles, preferably no dig due to the clay soil. With Cirencester just ten minutes drive away there are two market opportunities practically on the doorstep with great potential for locals to come to site for education and event purposes.
This opportunity would suit a landseeker with some capital behind them, wanting to establish their own stand alone business but with a community around them.
