Meet Caroline and Jasper, they are looking for someone to make good use of three open acres at the top of their otherwise wooded 13-acre field. The field is called ‘Tara’ and is currently under herbal ley. The woodland is young, having been planted in 2020/21. It was previously grazed by a local farmer, although no chemicals or fertilisers have been used on the land since they took it back in hand in 2020 and, they think, since quite a few years before that. Caroline and Jasper would like to see the unused part of the field being used for producing organic food either as a market garden or food forest operation and they are particularly enthusiastic about bringing the community to the land, either through volunteering or educational courses. They are open to ideas.

The field has good vehicle access, is deer fenced and has mains water but is currently without a tap, although they are looking into having a water connection put in and a small wooden shed has been installed. There are no toilet facilities or other infrastructure but they would be open to infrastructure being installed such as a polytunnel and compost toilet subject to the necessary consents. The land is in an AONB so planning permission may need to be sought.

This opportunity would suit a landseeker with some experience under their belt, able to take on a larger blank canvas plot and make it thrive.
