LandOWNER FAQ’s
Find the answer to your question below or get in contact if you can’t find what you’re looking for
Can I offer land if I am not the landowner?
Can I offer a job opportunity with land?
Yes, if the job is directly linked to the land being offered. Be aware that offering paid employment may have employment law implications.
Where can I find out more about leases, tenancies and land agreements?
We can point you to resources that may help but for specific advice you should consult a professional land agent or legal expert.
Where can I find help with the tax implications of renting out land or entering a land partnership?
An accountant or bookkeeper can advise on rent and any related tax liabilities. If you’re VAT-registered, you can decide whether to charge VAT on rents but check with an accountant about the implications.
Can this project give me access to finding labour for my farm?
No. This project is primarily designed for landowners who can offer land for people wanting to start or scale-up their own land-based businesses.
Can you guarantee a match for this growing season?
No. Landmatch England aims to connect people for mutually beneficial land partnerships. This process can take time, so we cannot guarantee if or when a match will occur.
What if I connect with someone through the landmatch scheme and they don’t do what they said they would do?
A clear agreement or lease protects both parties if obligations aren’t met. Seek professional advice and establish open communication from the start.
Do I need public liability insurance or any extra insurances in place to take on a land tenant?
You should check with your existing home, farm or business insurance to ensure your existing policy is not affected or has sufficient cover.
Can I offer my land elsewhere as well as on Landmatch England?
Yes, of course! Please contact us if you would like to do this as we may be able to share with others in our network.
